National Tree Week was created by the Tree Council in 1975, marking this year as the 50th anniversary.
National Tree Week was launched by the Tree Council to encourage replanting and restore green spaces after the widespread destruction caused by Dutch Elm Disease.
It runs from November 22nd – November 30th, and throughout the UK you can find education, conservation, and community action.
We’d love for you to visit Heeley Peopls’s Park, home to over 2000 trees! Our two dedicated parkies work year round to make sure that the delicate ecosystem of our parks stays healthy all year round.
“Our park is home to a spectacular collection of over 70 different species and more than 2000 individual trees! From oaks to maples and thriving hazel each one plays a vital role in our local ecosystem and community.
This summer was tough for many of them with the dry spells, but these resilient beauties are tough going! They held strong and have been absolutely loving all the recent rain.”
