Heeley Community TARA (Tenants and Residents Association) and Sheffield City Council South Local Area Committee have funded a piece of new Street Art, commissioning Alastair Findall from Neck of the Woods Studio.

Alistair worked with Heeley TARA to create designs for a mural to go on the corner of Carrfield Road and Gleadless Road. The ideas were collected from Heeley residents at Heeley Farm Summer Fair and at the Heeley TARA AGM in July.  A public vote was sent out so that locals could choose from 3 different designs. We were very honoured to see that we were featured in all three designs in different ways: from a corner of the crows nest, to an outline of SUM Studios transposed onto mics, and more. The design was then further modified based on comments and feedback received during the voting process. The final design looks great.
We’ve had many opportunities to see the process. Afterall, the Carrfield Road and Gleadless road corner is inbetween Heeley Green Community Center and SUM Studios!
To understand more about the process of creating these designs you can read the story here. Not only does it show the legacies and landmarks of Heeley Trust as a community anchor, but it draws on the rich history and strong creative backbone of the Heeley area.
